Dear family and friends,
Well, we almost had another baptism again, but right at the last minute, we found out that the dad didn't want him baptized. His name is Pedro and his dad doesn't have any legal rights with him, and his mom has all of them, and his mom had given permission (his mom is a member). She was about to say forget the dad, but then I decided to inform the bishop of the situation. To me, even if the dad doesn't have any legal rights, Christ wouldn't want us to make more contention in that family. It is a family that is divided, some are members, the others are hostile to the church, so we decided to postpone the baptism until there were better relations.
As a result, we ended up with 5 people that came to church on sunday that aren't members that live in our area, so that should help with our really shallow teaching pool as well.
One of the really cathloc men in the zone leaders area had a revelation that he should invite us over for easter dinner. Unfortunately, we already had dinner planned with an investigator, so we didn't go, and sent the Sisters in our place. We would have given the Sisters our dinner but they have been banned from that investigators house . . . I don't know why though.
On thursday we were running from place to place and were in the 5th story of a building with a part member family and went down to find this guy that ran away from us, anyways we rang the bell and started coming up in the elevador and we got stuck. the worst part is that when we went down, I forgot the phone sitting on the table, so we were stuck for 21 minutes (from the time we realized it, Elder Fry kept track) in an elevador without a phone or anything.
Today we got permission to go to some caves in the other area. We went with our ward mission leader and had a fun time. There was a nice walk and I successfully filled up my memory card on my camera again, so that is always good. The cave wasn't very deep and you could see the whole way because the enterance was so big, but it was funny that there was a cathloc shrine inside of the cave . . . I swear you can find those anywhere.
One of our new investigators that went to church came to the Sister's baptism. She is really catholic and during the baptism was doing the cross symbols and repeating the bishop in the baptismal prayer the whole time. . . I think she will be really fun to teach. She left the gospel principle class because we don't believe in saints. To me, I always tell people that we believe in saints, we just don't pray to them, we pray to God. But I did learn that if you pray to mary, she will tell Jesus to do stuff for us. . . . Just so y'all know.
I can't think of anything else
Love y'all
Elder Hope
